The Exeter Chiefs lock was joined by former player Chris Bentley, now corporate sales executive at the Aviva Premiership club.
They refereed games and encouraged everyone involved, from five-year-olds to veterans, before taking part in a question-and-answer session.
Kieran Johns and family, of Fire Defence Servicing who sponsor South Molton and Parling, made the visit possible.
Parling joined Exeter from Leicester last summer and helped the Chiefs reach the Aviva Premiership final and European Champions Cup quarter-finals. The 32-year-old has played 29 times for England and won three Lions caps on the 2013 tour to Australia.
