This includes houses with
multiple occupancies, which covers residential care homes
and sheltered accommodation.
Sprinkler systems are designed and installed to DD 251 ‘Sprinkler
Systems for Residential and Domestic Occupancies’.
These systems are designed on a basis of a single head protecting
a nominal area of 15m (with some limitations) supplied through
a monitoring station which, in turn, connects to a residential
alarm panel, complete with internal sounder and external
sounder/strobe.
The sprinklers operate by a heat sensitive element which,
when activated, releases water onto the fire area. Only
sprinklers which are activated by the heat, actually operate.
Sprinkler head types can be standard closed head or concealed
sprinklers. |
