Project Description
The Brief
To design, supply, install and commission a sprinkler system to the new city centre Fire Station incorporating ground, first and second floor protection. Fed from the town’s main water supply.
The Challenge
Main issue was that the mechanical contractor installed feed to the building from the wrong main within the road, subsequently on testing flows and pressures, the town’s main was unable to provide the required duties. There was also delays in completion of works as the main contractor Wilmot Dixon were late.
The Solution
FDS Installed a fully hydraulically calculated OH 2 system with 276 sprinkler heads fed from town’s main supply to LPC rules BSEN12845:2015. Equipment 1 no 80mm wet alarm valve all situated within the ground floor plant room. System fed 3 floors which incorporated protection to the main garage area and sleeping accommodation of the second floor.
