FDS commitment to Health & Safety is the up most in our minds and we are pleased to say that our directly employed engineers Mark, Sam and Kane have attended the Site Supervisors’ Safety Training Scheme (SSSTS) Site Safety Plus

The two-day course introduced Site Supervisors to their legal responsibilities regarding health, safety, welfare and environmental issues.

The course covered:citb

  • Have an understanding of how health and safety law is structured
  • Identify how their supervisory role fits in with the manager in controlling the site safely
  • Carry out risk assessments and understand the need for method statements
  • Carry out site inductions, toolbox talks and method statement briefings
  • Understand what is meant by proactive and reactive monitoring and appreciate their need
  • Improve communication techniques through delivery of a tool box talk or daily task briefing

The content included:

  • Legal responsibilities and health and safety management
  • Fire and emergencies
  • Health issues
  • Noise and vibration, dermatitis, asbestos, drugs and alcohol
  • Risk assessment
  • Hazardous substances
  • Construction (Design and Management) Regulations
  • Work at height
  • Manual handling
  • Accident prevention and reporting
  • Group delivery of tool box talks / daily task briefings
