FDS Ltd have been awarded the Sprinkler installation at Stonehavens new Care Home “Primrose House”

WORK has started on a new £3 million care home for Westward Ho!, bringing 30 new jobs to the villagePrinrose House.

The Stonehaven Care Group, which already runs a care home in Westward Ho!, is building another 30 bed care home, to be called Primrose House.

In July last year a turf cutting ceremony, attended by Northam mayor Barry Edwards and mayoress Niki Tait, was held to kick off the work.

Site manager Graeme Nott said: “The weather during the winter months has been challenging, however, we have managed to stay on track!

“We have employed a predominately local workforce who have worked tirelessly in helping us achieve our goal to complete the work on site.”

Primrose House is being built immediately next door to Stonehaven’s existing home in the village, Primrose House siteDonnington House.

Speaking after the turf cutting last year Stonehaven Care Group director Nathan Stone said: “We are extremely proud of our family business leading the way in excellent residential care for the elderly and to continue building on the success of Donnington House.

“We are extremely excited about the forthcoming opening of Primrose House which we already sense is destined to become another very successful venture for Stonehaven Care Group.”

The new home will provide specialist dementia care which will be in addition to the elderly, long term, respite and day care already provided by Donnington House.

According to Stonehaven the care home will have “light, airy and spacious rooms with wide corridors and decor carefully selected following recommended dementia guidelines”.

It is hoped the new home will provide residents “tailored lifestyles”, allowing them to develop their own interests and hobbies.

Primrose House will also feature three communal lounges and a cinema facility.

Stonehaven is working with Morgan Sindall and Chris Potter Associates to build the home, which will be state-of-the-art.

There will be 24 hour heat exchange ventilation, under floor heating and a fire safety sprinkler system.
